Prototype-X Automotive Design
The Prototype-X design was a side project I did a few months a go. I still don't have an official name for the vehicle. The automotive illustration was done in Newtek Lightwave 3D version 9. The illustration began with a concept, evolved into a 3d model, and ended in a HDRI rendering.
I wanted to design a four-door sedan that has the appearance and aggressive stance of an exotic super car. To handle the enormous torque the motor generates, the rear tires must be extra large. I ended up creating steam roller type tires for the vehicle. Super fat wheel wells house the extremely large tires. I want the rear to be "extra clean" with no tail lites disturbing the clean lines. Instead, a strip of LED lights represent the vehicle's tail lite. In my opinion, the rear, three quarter view of the car is the most beautiful.
The front of the vehicle has a "Mako shark" look. The sloping hood and sharp snout of the vehicle give it a very racy appearance. The hood lines continue to integrate with the low roof. Due to the low roof, seating position of driver and passengers is more reclined.
